The dancing knowledge of this young Israeli artist (Hadera, 1980) is made up of Israeli folklore
and contemporary dance. He settled in Madrid ten years ago and is the current director of his
group Compañía Sharon Fridman. His career as a dancer started in 1999 when he joined the
prestigious Ido Tadmor Dance Company, based in Tel Aviv. Fridman’s performance career is
completed with experience in Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Vertigo Dance Company
and various projects for the effervescent Suzanne Dellal Center. In year 2000, 20 years old
aged, he started working as a choreographer with the setting-up of Phrasal group. In 2004 he
joined Mayumaná Company for four years, as choreographer and artistic coordinator.
Some of his creations are All Ways (2016), Caída Libre (2014), wich version named Free Fall
incorporated 20 local volunteers, non professional dancers, Rizoma (2012), in co-production
with the festival Paris Quartier d´Été, premiered at Les Invalides (Paris) with 70 dancers and 10
cellists, or the famous duette Hasta dónde…? (2011).
During his prolific career, this young artist has won several awards at Choreography Contest
Burgos-New York, Hannover Choreography Competition, Choreography Contest of Madrid
or International Theater and Dance Fair of Huesca (Spain), among others. In 2015 Caída
Libre/Free Fall is awarded with the prestigious Max Award to the Best Dance Show
Sharon Fridman's work is based on three fundamental pilars: the lenguage of contact, the
social dimension of dance and the break of the fourth wall, looking for new ways to connect
further with the audience, incorporating it to the piece and making dance a personal
experience for them as well.
Many international companies include on their repertoire creations by Sharon Fridman, such
as Ballet Nacional de Paraguay, LaMov Compañía de Danza (Spain), Vertigo Dance Company
(Israel), Compagnie Jus de la Vie (Sweden), Theater Bielefeld (Germany) or Compañía
Nacional de Danza (Spain).
