Laboral City of Culture is a space of great complexity created by Luis Moya as an ideal and self-managed city and transformed in 2001 as a center of cultural and creative production tailored to the 21st century with spaces for learning and teaching; to see, hear and consume cultural products; to share networks, exchange knowledge and communicate ideas.In its 130,000 square meters of surface have emerged an art center created from some of the vocational training ships; a set of new construction, which completes the renovated facilities of the convent of the Poor Clares, now headquarters of the Radiotelevisión of the Principality of Asturias; a spectacular library, culmination of part of the unfinished project of Moya; Patio Corintio, converted into a warm welcome space thanks to a new glass roof; the magnificent Paraninfo and thousands of meters rehabilitated to house the Integrated Vocational Training Center, the Faculty of Commerce, Tourism and Social Sciences "Jovellanos", the Professional Conservatory of Music and Dance of Gijón or the Superior School of Dramatic Art.

Jardìn Botánico del Atlántico

In April 2003, the first phase of the Garden, almost 16 hectares, of collections and spaces of high interest, opened its doors.The Garden incorporates in its collections the Garden of the Island, a historical garden with more than 150 years, and the Natural Monument of La Carbayeda de El Tragamón, an exceptional natural forest with trees up to 400 years old.The Botanical Garden is a young garden that is consolidated year after year as a team firmly committed to the sustainable development of its environment and the preservation of plant biodiversity.
